1. (biology) Any haplontic organism; any organism whose zygotes undergo zygotic meiosis (meiosis immediately after the fusion of cell nuclei).Examples: "1933, John Milton Webber, Cytological Features of Nicotiana Glucinosa Haplonts, M.
